Scrap toll fees on KZN South Coast (R61/N2 Shelly Beach and Port Shepstone off-ramps)
Recent construction taking place on Marine Drive has created a traffic nightmare for commuters. The many stop-and-go controls create lengthy delays, negatively affecting business and schooling.
In an effort to reduce time spent in the traffic, residents have the option of using the N2/R61 but toll fees limit those with access to this “detour” due to the ever increasing cost of living and the financial burden it puts on South Africans.
The DA is calling on the Provincial Government to take note of the frustration of South Coast residents; and to open the tollgate “free of charge” on the off-ramps at both Shelly Beach and Port Shepstone to commuters travelling between Port Shepstone and Port Edward.
Businesses and residents have suffered enough hardship and challenges, and any financial relief will be of great assistance.
