Ward 21 Needs Reinforcements: Petition for More SAPS Boots on the Ground
From Under-Resourced to Empowered. Back the Call for More resources at the Durbanville Police Station.
Safety is a constitutional right, not a privilege!
Despite the rising population growth and the increase in demand, the Durbanville Police Station remains under-resourced due to the failure of the ANC to allocate police capacity where it is needed. The centralised control of SAPS continues to undermine effective local policing.
In terms of Section 205 (3) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, the object of the Police Service is to:
· prevent, combat and investigate crime;
· maintain public order;
· protect and secure the inhabitants of the Republic and their property; and
· uphold and enforce the law
However the residents feel unsafe due to the unequal deployment of Police resources to Durbanville Police Station.
The DA in Ward 21 is fighting for the deployment of additional resources and the upgrade of the Durbanville Police Station to improve public safety and ensure that it receives the equitable police service it needs.
