Petition demanding basic services for Jackson informal settlement

Support the DA’s fight for basic services in the Jackson informal settlement. No working sewerage system and a lack of safe drinking water is spreading disease and causing despair. Sewerage is seeping into the ground water contaminating the borehole supply relied on by residents, and the lack of refuse removal has led to an unsanitary waste build-up. The Gauteng provincial government must act now!

Sign the DA’s petition and support the fight for basic service delivery in the Jackson informal settlement.

The Informal Settlement of Jackson lies on the border between Midvaal and Johannesburg Metro.

This settlement has, since Covid, grown beyond the Metro’s ability to service its residents. No sewer supply and a lack of safe or reliable water makes life for residents intolerable and is harmful to the environment of surrounding natural spaces.

Sewerage seeps into the ground water thereby contaminating the water used by all the residents in the area who rely on borehole water supply.

Sign the DA’s petition and help put pressure on the provincial government to act.

We demand that the Gauteng provincial government do their jobs and attend to this crisis now!
