ANC-run Matjhabeng Municipality’s financial mismanagement is robbing us of basic service delivery. Sign this petition to call for urgent intervention.
We should not have to suffer water and power cuts due to the ANC-run municipality’s financial mismanagement!
Eskom cut off the power in March and our water supply was disconnected by the bulk supplier in February when the City Council failed to pay its accounts.
These are symptoms of a fatal disease: financial mismanagement without accountability.
Enough is enough! There have been two decades of maladministration by ANC-led councils. We need urgent intervention!
The DA is requesting that the national Treasury intervenes in terms of Section 216(3) of the Constitution or the provincial government intervenes in terms of Section 139 of the Constitution.
This will open the door for payment directly to the municipality’s suppliers – ensuring that government funding is not used for salaries, entertainment and other frivolous spending but on providing basic services to residents, first. Or it will allow the province to take over the municipality’s responsibilities or dissolve council to appoint a new administrator.
