Fund our wards in Mangaung!

Sign the DA’s petition and join our fight, along with civil rights groups and local neighbourhood associations, to get the Mangaung metro to allocate all wards in the municipality their fair share of R51 million in funding.

The DA is requesting that R51 million be included in the metro budget for the financial year 2023/2024. If approved, we are petitioning that the municipality allocate each ward R1 million to spend on uplifting their community over a 3-year term.

We need your signature on this petition so we can get the Mangaung municipality to put the power back in the hands of our wards!

In 2014, the then serving Speaker, Cllr Mxolisi Siyonzana, met with Mangaung councillors to allocate R200 000.00 in funding to each ward. This meeting found its way to a dead end and none of the communities ever received the funds. This money could’ve been used to improve public safety and attend to the basic service delivery needs of residents. But, the money vanished.

The DA raised several questions during the term on why the project was not initiated and it was then alleged that the R10 million plus budget was spent on the ANC Local Government Election campaign in 2016.

The Mangaung municipality has failed to deliver basic services to residents. Grants have not been spent as intended, maladministration in departments has caused chaos, cadre deployment puts the wrong people in leadership and tender-entrepreneur corruption continues to destroy already dilapidated  infrastructure.

The R1 million funding per ward will be ring-fenced and be used to uplift communities only!
