Petition to fix Ruimte Road in Centurion
We have a right to proper service delivery but the provincial government’s failure to address the issues on Ruimte Road are putting our lives in danger.
Sign this petition to call on the Gauteng Provincial Legislature and the Provincial Roads and Transport Department to install speed limit signs, more traffic signal arrows (with better-timed robots), and take the necessary measures to prevent accidents on this road.
More road signs
With cars travelling between 100 and 160km an hour, we urgently need speed limit signs to stop more lives from being lost. Average speed road signs must be installed along Ruimte Road from Voortrekker Road (R55) to Old Johannesburg Road (R101).
Traffic signal arrows and better-timed robots
There is a lot of traffic at peak hours, especially at the intersection of Ruimte Road with Chris Hougaard and Willem Botha streets. We urgently need more traffic signal arrows to assist with the flow of traffic and for the robots to be timed more efficiently.
Preventative measures
People often take a chance and turn in front of on-coming traffic to by-pass the traffic lights at these intersections. We urgently need to prevent drivers from illegally exiting Ruimte Road (R114) through the open spaces between Rooihuiskraal Road and Chris Hougaard Street, and Willem Botha Street and Piet Hugo Street.
Cllr Marika Kruger Muller will keep trying to get the Roads and Transport Department to answer our emails. She will push for our petition to be heard in meetings about Ward 70’s roads and in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.
