Property Owners in Ekurhuleni objecting against the property valuation roll 2021-2025

Show your support in petitioning the City Manager of Ekurhuleni to request the MEC responsible for Local Government in Gauteng to extend the current valuation roll by 12 (twelve months) to 30 June 2022. This will allow the City Manager to investigate the inaccurate property valuation increases.

We, the residents of City of Ekurhuleni hereby petition the City Manager, Dr Imogen Mashazi and Executive Mayor, Cllr Mzwandile Masina urgently consider the following;

  1. Apply to the MEC for Local Government in Gauteng permission to extend the 2021-2025 Property Valuation Roll as published on 24 February 2021 by 12 (twelve months) as allowed for under exceptional circumstances in the Municipal Property Rates Act Section 32 (2)(b).
  2. The City Manager to investigate the erroneous, errata valuations published in the valuation roll and for the Council to review the qualifications and capability of the Municipal Valuer appointed by the City Manager.
  3. This extension will also allow for homeowners to receive the Section 49 notification letters from the City as is required by the MPRA. The delays occasioned by the City of Ekurhuleni and it’s contractors exacerbated the already flawed process by disempowering property owners by denying them adequate time to object.
