Petition for City of Joburg to immediately review water and electricity accounts
Many residents have complained that their water and electricity bills have been inflated.
Overcharging residents, especially at a time when many South Africans have lost their jobs and are already struggling to make ends meet, is the final straw.
Sign this petition calling on the City of Johannesburg Government to immediately review water and electricity accounts issued between June and August 2020 and to adjust them according to the new, agreed-upon tariffs.
The City of Johannesburg agreed to ease the pressure on residents by reducing their proposed tariff increases in the new budget.
Now, residents have indicated that their electricity was billed according to fictitious consumption readings and water, in some cases, at double the agreed-upon tariff.
This is not OK.
